Leron 2020
An evening was marked by tenacity and the will to continue living and creating despite everything. As we all know, this has been an exceptional year. In fact, due to the health emergency, all summer events have been cancelled, including our beloved festival. However, as it was the twentieth anniversary, we decided to organise an alternative event, to pay homage to all that is “Leron”. We hosted the conference entitled: “The importance of intangible cultural heritage”. Six lecturers had a chance to present a theme inherent to the value of an intangible heritage that has been handed down for centuries. The director of the Ethnographic Museum of Istria, Lidija Nikočević, spoke about intangible cultural heritage and the possibilities of its interpretation. The ethnomusicologist and musician Dario Marušić presented himself with “Let’s pretend that … Tradition, folklore, folklorism” followed by a report entitled “The traditional world of Vodnjan through the study of fairs, markets and festive events connected to them” by Paola Delton. Gianna Belci analysed the characteristics and particularities of the hairstyle of the Vodnjan’s woman. Matija Drandić, a researcher at the Rovinj Center for Historical Research, dealt with the theme of intangible cultural heritage as a constitutive element of identity. And finally, Alessio Giuricin, a student at the Department of Musicology and Cultural Heritage of the University of Pavia, deepened the musical traditions in Rovinj, Bale and Šišan, concluding the conference.
