Leron 2009

The 2009 edition highlighted the significant role of cultural heritage, tradition and customs of the people of Europe. According to Furio Radin, a representative for the Italian national minority in the Croatian Parliament, Leron is a “flagship event in the rich event calendar of Vodnjan”. Although it becomes more and more challenging to bring new performers, the organising committee invited Italian folk societies (Puglia and FVG), a Bulgarian, a Romanian, and a Turkish group as well as the Poles of Wrocław and the Croats of Jelenje to compete.

At the end of the two-night event, a bronze sculpture depicting the “Leron” went into the hands of the “Eco del Gargano” group of San Giovanni Rotondo.
